Bay County Medical Care Facility Skilled Nursing

Our experienced RNs, LPNs, and CNAs create custom care plans for each Bay County Medical Care Facility resident. We encourage residents and their families to actively help with this process so we ensure that each plan addresses both medical and lifestyle concerns.

Our nurses are as proficient at providing short-term care for residents who join us after a hospital visit as they are at helping our long-term residents maintain their independence.

We look forward to helping each of our residents, whether the end goal is to stay with us a short time to recover and return home or to settle in for a long-term stay as part of our extended family.

Specialized services available at our facility include rehabilitation, restorative nursing, wound care, intravenous therapy, and advanced respiratory care.

Wound Care

The elderly are more prone to stubborn wounds that are slow to heal. Reductions in the elasticity of skin and changes in blood flow as well as certain diseases can both slow the healing process and reduce sensitivity so it’s easy to miss the signs of a new or worsening wound.

Wound recovery is more complicated as we age. But our team is here to reduce the impact that chronic wounds have on our residents. We staff a Certified Wound Specialist to handle complex wound care cases.

Our nurses conduct regular head-to-toe assessments to check for new or worsening wounds. For residents with limited mobility, we encourage routine turning and repositioning to change pressure points. We focus on incontinence care and rely on specialized equipment and mattresses to reduce the risk of wounds. Our team works closely with our dietary staff to harness the power of good nutrition to promote healing.

Rehabilitation & Restorative Nursing

Our nurses partner with our Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapists to encourage each resident to maintain as much independence as possible. In-house therapy is available 7 days per week. The Restorative department works to maintain what residents have gained with physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Restorative services are available to our residents 7 days per week. Our Restorative team consists of an RN Director, 3 LPNs, and 12 CNAs.

IV Therapies

With patients staying in hospitals for shorter periods of time, many doctors are asking patients to use Intravenous Therapy at home. That’s an intimidating prescription for most families. But relax. The nurses at Bay County Medical Care Facility are experts at administering and monitoring IV fluids and antibiotics to treat dehydration and infections.
